MC5 - A True Testimonial (2002)

This 2 hour documentary has never been released but one day it might happen. Who knows? Hopefully it will because as music documentaries go its up there right at the top. Its a 10/10 in my book. I'd really love to share my (illegal) copy but due to the filmmakers and Wayne Kramer in a dispute about the rights to the film,I can't. Above is what my copy looks like for what its worth!

And heres what some people on the much maligned imdb think of it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0333847/usercomments

Has anyone else seen this terrific docu and if so,what did you think of it? Big tip of the day - read the comments :-)

i was lucky enough to see this in the theatre when it came through portland, or. a few years ago i found a bootleg copy in a los angeles record store, they were actually playing it in the store! the french guy that owns the place says it's his favorite movie about his favorite band. he then showed me his mc5 tattoo sleeve. fantastic documentary! the extras are really killer too!

Hi Noland. Thats one thing I don't have - the extras! I'd love to get hold of them too. Cheers for your comment.

Hey Longy!
Yep... this is the bollocks!! Managed to get this about 6 months ago and got totally absorbed into it.
There's also a few other bits and bobs floating around that I'd love to find pucker (or better than what I've already got) versions of (ie; Bouton Rouge and Tubeworks).

This is definately better than the officially released DVD which a mate has got, but when I showed him this he was blown away!

Wayne certainly comes across as a pretty laid back together kind of dude.

Hey Longy,
I was wondering if there is any chance at all that you could possibly re-upload The Adverts and Women In Rock dvd's?

I downloaded them when you first posted them but my computer went tit's up a while back and I lost the clips.

If you can I'd really appreciate it, but if it's too much hassle I'll understand.

Many thanx.

Hi Bruce, thanks for your comment. I haven't see the offical dvd so I can't really comment on it.

About your request - only because its you,I'll do it. Adverts is done. Women In Rock will be done in a couple of hours. As a rule though,I'm not re-upping videos as it takes up too much time.

Hey Longy,
Many thanx for re-uploading the Adverts and Women In Rock links!
I've get 'em both now.
The other MC5 DVD is called, "Kick Out The Jams", and to be honest it isn't a patch on this release, so unless you have to have everything by the band I wouldn't be too bothered about getting the KOTJ dvd.
Once again, many thanx.... Bruce.

No worries Bruce - I know what a great contributor you are over at chingys blog so I can be flexible!

No I definately don't own or haven't seen the other doc so cheers for the tip.

Hi,
Firstly many thanks for making this available.
Secondly I have downloaded all the files and joined them together with the joiner you said.
How do I extract the files to play on my DIVX player?
I have tried 7zip but is won't open it.
Hope you can help
Paul

Longy said...

If you can't play it on DIVX player Paul then just download (free) Media Player Classic. That should solve it as that plays everything.
