An oldie but goodie for you today. Australia's finest from the Paddington Town Hall (thats Sydney not London!) from April 1977. Five spendid tunes here although due to the vhs quality the sound is a bit distorted at times but this is better than some of the versions flying about on the www. Just the one link at 163mb.Tracks
1) This Perfect Day
2) Run Down
3) Erotic Neurotic

Long time no etc ...Thanks for this - love This Perfect Day - lurking in my loft on a 7" vinyl somewhere
Hi Steve, Yes it is my favourite Saints song by a mile too. Got the 7'' and 12'' here!
It really was hard work to get the video running on my old trusty Mac, as QuickTime just couldn't cope with it! VLC Player finally did the job though. But it was worth the hassle because this footage is incredible. I already had the audio, but to see Chris Bailey sweating... and Ed Kuepper thrashing... the original Saints were the greatest!
Cheers, Carlo
Hi Carlo. I'm surprised anyone uses QuickTime anymore. For Avi files I usually use Winamp but if you download Media Player Classic - that plays just about anything okay. VLC I've got as well just in case! Cheers
Hi Longy, thanks for the technical advice, I guess I'll throw away QuickTime after this "experience". But what really matters is the Paddo clip - it had me jumping and screaming in front of the monitor, shouting along with Chris Bailey: "I don't need no one to tell me what I don't already know" !
Here's a description I swiped from a Jon Savage article: "It is April 1977. The Saints are playing one of their last dates in Australia before their move to the otherside of the world. A film of the event catches a killer rock band at its peak. At the back is Ivor Hay, sitting up high on the drums, holding on to the manic pace set by guitarist Ed Kuepper. Very much to the side is bassist Kym Bradshaw, filling out the bottom end. Stage right is Kuepper - treble up to stun - quivering like an arrow as he pumps out lightning fast melody, rhythm and barely controlled feedback; head down, he hardly glances at anyone, intent on electronic alchemy. At the front is Chris Bailey, stocky, pasty, greasy hair hanging down over a mouth which, when not filled with a cigarette, issues classic lyrics of teen anger, revenge, sheer disgust. There are people trying to jerk to this onslaught, but even they get confused when the Saints explore the further reaches of white noise during "Nights In Venice." Bailey looks bored and sits down in the audience stage front. He focuses on the camera and attacks it. There is a brief visual glitch, before you see him dazedly wandering off into the crowd, which parts before him like the Red Sea."
Cheers, Carlo
Yep throw away Quicktime if you don't need it Carlo - its shite!
Cheers for that review. Sounds just about right for The Saints!
The Saints and Dead Boys are two of my favorite punk rock bands.
