Buzzcocks - Live Wolverhampton 27-11-07

After my last posting I will stay in the same area and post what surely is Manchester's greatest musical artists of all. This is debatable of course as the City has had many fine bands but Buzzcocks gets my vote anyway. Fans of Joy Divsion, New Order,The Fall,Slaughter & The Dogs,The Drones,John Cooper Clarke and The Teardrops might disagree as might fans of the Stone Roses,Oasis and The Inspiral Carpets etc. So who were the finest band to come out of Manchester? Free free to give your views.

Anyway heres Buzzcocks with a storming 1 hour 21 minute gig from Wolverhampton from November 2007. Some bands are just timeless.

Maybe not the finest, but Hammill and VdGG should at least be mentioned.

Cheers.

Tough one.

I'm split between The Stone Roses and Buzzcocks...

However, Slaughter & The Dogs have been getting more play according to itunes, so Slaughter & The Dogs win for the popularity.

And add The Smiths and Kid British to that list!

Gotta agree it'd be the buzzcocks for me, unless the nagging doubt in my mind is trying to tell me i've forgotten someone or something important.

I'd forgot to mention Van der Graaf Generator anon = silly me. Okay I'll be honest,I've never heard of them until I looked em up just now lol. Thats the great thing about being so young!

Even sillier to forget the bloody Smiths. Good shout biopunk. There will be some Slaughter & the Dogs on here in the next few weeks btw (when I locate the dvd which is somewhere in this room!)

I know what you mean AJ Wern't Alberto from up your neck of the woods too? They deserve a mention if thats the case.

my brain has defrosted, the chameleons, i went to see them twice last year, fan and the bellows, swamp thing and in shreds, three of the finest songs to come out of manchester. Many bands come from my specific bit of north manchester, most have moved away but mark e smith can still be seen on the piss on a fairly regular basis

Hey Son !
jim

1) Joy Division
2) Magazine
3) Stone Roses
4) Buzzcocks
5) Smiths

Best gig ever, pretty sure late '79 (though the old brain cells are struggling a bit) Liverpool Uni, Joy Division (just) topped the Buzzcocks that night.

Magazine's Real Life and Stone Roses s/t still two of my favourite LP's ever.
