The Stranglers - Live Alexandra Palace 11-08-90

We haven't had anything from the Stranglers for ages so here is Hugh Cornwell's last ever gig with the band. Theres no point in writing anything about the Stranglers because its all been said except to say they are touring again early next year.

Luckily this one was pre-upped well before Monday when my computer suffered a fatal virus. I was browsing an undodgy site when this thing called AntiVirisPro 2110 started downloading itself onto the computer. I quickly went offline but it was too late and I had trojan city on here. My Anti Virus,Anti Malmare and Anti Spyware were as about as effective as a Liverpool FC defence. I was unable to reboot in safe mode or use system restore either. Basically, all internal HD's had to be wiped and every bloody mp3 and video on there and fuck knows how many programmes I had on here were gone forever as my faithful computer spent Monday afternoon being repaired in the shop. Luckily all the music and alot of the vids were backed up but to say it was a gigantic pain in the arse is an understatement. Be warned of this pesky virus folks. Its the worst I've ever encountered.

This ones 590mb and an hour long and again use HJ-Split to join the files http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 and again sorry but its rapidshare.

"No its you doing something wrong mate. You have to join the files using HJ-Split. Download the programme, double click on the icon when you've done it to open HJ-split then click "join" Then click "input" and find the folder where your downloaded file is. You will then see just one file called (in this case) Dickies 001.avi or whatever I named it Click on that file then click "open" then join it and it will magically turn into the avi file you want. It sounds complicated but its not"

Nice mix of tracks on this show. Thanks for the upload.

Hard lines with the virus. Guess it happens to everybody at least once. Glad you had some sort of back up though. When mine went i lost thousands of tracks and video. Have an external hard drive now, just in case.

Cheers

Cheers WMHP. I lost an old internal 80 gig and 160 gig drive and an external 250 gig but luckily both my 500 gig externals were turned off. Most of the video stuff was on the 250 but nearly all of it I have on some form of cd or dvd. Its just a massive inconvience and a pain in the arse sorting all the programmes and stuff out really.

Damned virus Longy...hope they never mess with me, because I haven't backed up all my precious stuff (I need to buy another ext drive). I have Vista and Norton antivirus and honestly I never had have any problem with virus(yet). I downloaded that HJ-Split but I haven't used yet, I will see how it works right now..it seems easy like Hacha.

Cheers mate.

I never got on with Norton englishfog. Just seemed to slow the comp right up. I'm back on good old avg (9) now.

Yes HJ-Split is very easy to use.

If your missing anything mate, just stick out a request I'm sure between us we can cover anyhing lost.

How did the virus start? was it a download? or what?

Longy said...

Cheers Gary. Might need a tech support post soon for sure. It was a bogus AntiVirusPro that started downloading as I was browsing pages of the end (not dodgy ones too!) Fuck all I could do about except for you offline but by then it was too late and it fucked up every way possible to get it cleared (jumping antivirus's,Malmares, adawares, system retore and wouldn't even let me reboot in safe mode. They wanted me and they got me the sods.

That JJC twat is below btw in case you didn't see it. Might post the whole gig next week actually.

sorry to hear about you getting the avpro 2110 attack longy, my brother got the same problem last week & the only thing we could do was reformat & reinstall windows. I`m that pissed off at windows virus attacks i`ve installed ubuntu linux & got rid of windows altogether!Works well so far

Cheers Corby. Its certainly a fucker of a virus for sure. Probably put there by an Anti Virus giant to get them to buy their product.
