This was the "much awaited" comeback single from Skrewdriver back in 1982. This was brought for £1.75 in Virgin Records in Plymouth where the cover was proudly displayed on the wall. This was also the last "legal" Skrewdriver record available to buy in the shops here in the UK before they got banned for being a bunch of Nazi's. This single contains no Nazi lyrics btw.
So why am I blogging it? Theres a couple of reasons really.
Firstly,I actually think its a great record especially the re-vamped version of "I Don't Like You" which was originally on the All Skrewed Up album. Whether you like it or not,this band do have a place in Punk history so when they reformed albeit under the guise of a Skinhead band,then yes there was alot of interest. I'm probably not the only Punk lover to have this one hiding in my collection and I seriously doubt I'm the only one who will admit to liking it too.
Secondly and most importantly,as a warning to all the kids out there to NOT seek out any of the Nazi music they released after this one. This band spreaded geniune hatred. All their other stuff after this release is a no-no.
And finally to say,I'm glad lead vocalist Ian Stuart is dead. The world is a much better place without him. And if this upsets the fuckwits over at Blood And Honour,C18 and the Ayran Brotherhood ect then I'm delighted.
I'm expecting negative comments accusing this English/Greek/Cypriot crossbreeded old Punk of being some sort of racist for posting this but I guess that goes with the territory when you post anything by Skrewdriver on a blog. I've probably been to more Anti-Nazi League marches/demonstrations than most and have also suffered a large amount of racial abuse in my life. What I'm basically trying to do here is spread a positive message using the most un-positive of bands.
The only comments I will remove are any pro-nazi ones.

Yes mate. West Ham vs Millwall was always going to be trouble. It wasn't rocket-science but the Police under-estimated it by the look of things.
I was a 19 years little skinhead when I bought my copy in 1982, I remenber reading articles in Sounds where Stuart was complaining about the band being branded as Nazis, what a manipulator he was, I went the other skinhead way, Soul and Reggae. This was indeed their last great recording.

Seems sort of an apt choice for the day of the West Ham VS Millwall bollocks doesn't it. And as someone who helped the setting up of the ANL in Glasgow I remember all IStewarts media manipulations esp in Sounds and Bushell has it seems to me a LOT to answer for, despite his supposed SWP past prior to the whole Oi bollocks! Oh well, afraid I will give this one a miss, but you did a great write up there explaining yr point of view.

Violence and racism are ugly and unnecessary ... fact not an opinion. Early Skrewdriver is great punk ... perhaps an opinion, though bordering on fact.

Here in Texas, USA Skrewdriver were THE band all the nazi-skins liked. I think for that reason I always avoided any of their material. I have heard that their early material was good and showed no signs of racism. I still cannot, however, listen to them. At the same time, I have long since stopped criticizing people for listening to their early stuff; it just seems inappropriate to paint all their material with the same broad brush. Y'all have all the fun you want listening to them!

In fact Stuart had already established contacts to the right scene before he came "back with a bang". He also initiated a campaign called "rock against communism" in '79. But your right, their first album was great and i always liked it despite the brainlessness that followed.
