The Stranglers - Always The Sun 7'' (1986)

This single was a bit more popular for the Stranglers. Off the same Dreamtime album and a bit more mainstream. As the sun is currently shining then very apt today.

Just a word on yesterday. It was great to meet long term Punk Friction commenter "arstider" and his pal who bravely ventured into the sea of blue at Morrisons for a 3/4 of a pint each (don't ask where the rest of it went :-) Next time you are over in England arstider then get there a bit eariler!

And a quick word on the Chels vs Man U game. We didn't deserve to win but it makes a change to have a bit of luck against Man U. Their fans were hammering England's Captain all through the game so it was sweet justice when Mr JT rose like a Salmon and headed in the winner. I can't believe what I've been listening to on the radio since I've been home. What a bunch of whingers those lot are. Disputed free kick, disputed goal, should of had a Penalty etc etc Have a word with yourselves and show some grace McTaggart & co!

Tracks

1) Always The Sun
2) Norman Normal

It was a pleasure meeting you Longy.... ;-D
My Pal said what a kind och gentle person that was! I can only agree.
Even do that 3/4 pint each.... :-D

Next time I won't only be early next time I hope to sing with you on Stamford Bridge for the first time.

My team did win the double here in Sweden.

So about The Stranglers, Always liked this single still do.

Best wishes from Sweden

Thanks arstider & pal,the pleasure was all mine and even the lager shower was funny. Thats the problem with London women....they never look where they are going!

Where I sit is very close to the away fans and on days like yesterday, makes victory all the more sweeter. I would like you to experience Stamford Bridge on a day like yesterday. To be honest we were pretty quiet until we scored though! After that it was all good :-)

Top blog always check up to see what you're posting. Not one of my favourite Stranglers tracks prefer the earlier stuff. But thanks all the same.

One of Utd fans giving JT shit - just friendly banter!. Your right you were bloody quiet till you scored - talk about singing when you're winning!

Fair play to Chelsea - took their chance. Plenty of time to catch you up. Remember Utd don't start playing till after Christmas.

Thanks again and best wishes Mullers

Fair play to you Mullers. I've got 929 reasons why that JT stuff gets my goat but the credit card is finally paid off :-)

Utd fans won't wind me up half as much as that other red shyte but you must admit that Manager of yours can't half moan when decision go against him.

Yes we were quiet. As Tom Jones once sang....its not unusual.

Cheers

I was there too mate - as you can imagine worth every penny. Guess this was your turn.

Anyway had a good craic and loosened our vocal chords with a few pints of Guiness in the Slug & Lettuce beforehand.

To be fair to the great man, he admitted it was missed chances that cost us - not the ref.

PS Glad we're at one on the Scousers!

The last time I visited the Slug was against West Ham a few seasons ago. It was an early bank holiday ko and it was the only pub open.

Moscow I loved except the outcome, the wait for the buses and total chaos in our airport after the game. Had a great craic and Utd and Chelsea fans got on really well (the 1000's of army, police and tanks put anyone off trouble me thinks) I'm just hoping we get to the final this year as Madrid would be great.

The Scousers are second only to Tottenham in the enemy stakes...some would put them top now. I'm an Birmingham City fan for the evening for sure!

Hi Longy!
I haven't commented here for a while... I've seen these 2 Stranglers singles posted with the wrong 1982 dates. Both of them appeared in 1986; Always the Sun in October (charting at no 30) and Big in America in December. Dreamtime was from 1986 too of course

Saludos / all the best,

Fernando :)
