Television Personalities - A Sense Of Belonging 7'' (1994)

I've always had a soft spot for this band and probably always will do. This is the re-released version on Overground Records and doesn't include the original B Side (Paradise Estate) I don't own the original (I don't own much by the band actually but hopefully that will change after Christmas when I hit ebay again!)

Vocalist Dan Treachy is the only constant in this bands long history which has had many line-ups and have included such greats as Ed Ball and Jowe Head in their ranks.

Tracks

1) A Sense Of Belonging
2) Baby's Turning Blue

This is probably one of the most beautiful and harrowing songs ever written, which alongside the picture on the cover of the original single, (the beaten up child) really rips yer insides out. The Album this is from, Painted Word is one of my desert island discs. Top post longy

No worries topper. I've found the Toronto disc I've been looking for most of the day now....its a start!

Love that album too Nuzz. I forgot all about the TVP's until I saw The Painted Word on that Shelter John Peel video to be honest and that rekindled my interest in them.

Thanks Longy - good record. Seem to remember that these guys did a cover of Syd Barrett's / the Floyd's 'Apples & Oranges'.

Hi Mullers. Indeed they did. Its on a Syd Barrett tribute album which is over here >>

Link is still alive too. TVP's also did a great version of Floyd's "Bike" as well.

Top man, in my view not one of Syd's best but well worth a listen.

Yep I agree its not one of his best. Personally I like Effervescing Elephant,Octopus and Terrapin best. Oh and Gigolo Aunt of course.

Knox from The Vibrators did a pretty wicked Gigolo Aunt.

I must have that somewhere and listen to it again. Cheers for the reminder Nuzz.
