The classic Do You Believe In The Westworld catapulted Theatre Of Hate to fame back in '82. Not their best one by a long shot in my opinion but still great. This 12'' features extended versions of both Westworld and the excellent Propaganda as well as the normal versions and just for good measure theres another version of the brilliant Original Sin to round things off.Tracks
1) Do You Believe In The Westworld
2) The Version
3) Propaganda
4) Ministry Of Propaganda
5) Original Sin

Good band saw 'em a couple of times in the 80's and again in '98 (i think)still play the first album quite a bit really like Nero, Love is a Ghost, Propaganda and the single Eastworld. keep up the good work mate.
I first saw them in '81 I think. Southern Death were supporting. Both bands were bloody ace. Nero is probably my favourite TOH song but theres so many I love of theirs.
MRML link and credits are fixed.
Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks for answer my comments Longy. I love TOH! When I try to make a playlist of best of them to put on a CD, I always ended up with all songs!! Although Ten Years After album is one of my favourite maybe because Billy Duffy is on guitars, I really like his riffs on that album. I always wonder about this similarity: The Pack with Southern Death Cult, TOH with Death Cult, Spear Of Destiny with The Cult. Isn't strange? I think TOH were more succesful before and The Cult were more succesful later though.
Anyway, I din't have this one... let's taste it! Surely will be awsome. Thanks a lot.
P.D. Sorry if my english is not so good.
Your English is far better than mine :-) I've never really thought about comparing the bands in that way. Kirk wise I love all his stuff be it The Pack,TOH or SOD or Solo work. Some SOD is much poorer than The Pack and SOD stuff then again theres alot more of it. Its hard to be objective here!
Southern Death were by far superior to Death Cult and especially The Cult in my eyes. They such had the edge because of their refreshing live energy which sadly didn't reflect on their records. Poor production didn't help either. Ian was always going to be a star thats for sure.
Another quality set of tracks Longy!- I have this tucked away too, and for me Kirk Brandon (as dodgy as he is!)is a top song-writer who knows how to capture stirring anthems....S.O.D have so many classics in their back-catalogue and they are performed equally as good live - the riffage on Westworld is haunting, and the B-sider is also a great tune.
I'm not sure what you mean by "as dodgy as he is" lol
Great band but they had a lot of imitators, for me this was when punk started to go wrong, Thanks. - FineFareCider
Interesting comment FineFare. I didn't think they had any immitators and thats why they were liked so much (for being original) Who could possibly immitate Kirk? (excect me with my headphones on that is)
I like this jazz thing in theirs songs. Could someone recommend me something like that?
Off the top of my head,I can't think of anything.
Anyone?
Somehow they remind me of Van Der Graaf Generator. Probably because the vocals and the sax.
Thanks for introducing me to this band!
I've never heard of Van Der Graaf Generator! Glad you like TOH. You might also like Spear Of Destiny if you like Kirk Brandon's vocals.
Van Der Graaf Generator are prog rock band. Just some songs of Theater Of Hate sounds a bit like them.
Thanks, I will hear Spear Of Destiny too.
Thanks Mordet,I did wonder who they were!
I've just come to the conclusion I didn't visit here in May? don't remember any of these being here when I've checked before :)
Great stuff as always Longy
Cheers Asbo :-)
