Jimmy Pursey - Lucky Man 7'' (1980)

The debut single from the one and only Jimmy Pursey. Don't complain or I'll post more! I actually quite like this one but don't expect Sham 69 Mk2 cos it aint.
I've got a digital turntable now, still trying to suss the twat out though. Expect a few crackles along the way from now on. I've just been going through all my vinyl. Bit disappointed how much of it has already been posted on the net already to be honest. Theres still a few bits and pieces I'll eventually rip on here when I get round to it.....like this long lost single!
Tracks

1) Lucky Man
2) Black And White Rock Reggae

COME ON YOU PIKEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

I'm dreaming dreams, I'm scheming schemes,
I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

When shadows creep, when I'm asleep,
To lands of hope I stray!
Then at daybreak, when I awake,
My bluebird flutters away.
Happiness, you seem so near me,
Happiness, come forth and cheer me!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

Thnaks for this. I'm loving your blog...

Could you PLEASE post more Jimmy Pursey solo stuff? If you have Imagination Camouflage or Alien Orphan, I'd be truly, profoundly grateful. I know most people didn't like his solo stuff. Most of my friends actually got angry when I played it. But I liked it. I thought it was ambitious and interesting to him take chances. You can't find these LPs on line anywhere. At least I can't.

Someone actually wants more? Its a miracle! I have actually got 3 Jimmy Pursey solo albums (don't tell anyone, they'll hammer me) I have the 2 you mention plus Revenge Is Not The Password (and another 2 singles as well) I will get round to it in the end mate. If I posted all them at once everyone would piss off lol

Well I liked it too, Longy, esp. the A-side. Not too different from what some of what Sham were doing on "The Game" LP. Like everyone I knew in the day, I parted company with JP following his preposterous dance/mime "performance" to We Are The Meninblack by the Stranglers on Riverside:

Looking back on it, credit due to him for at least trying something different. Anyway, would love to hear some more of your JP collection!! A surprise hit...
