Its back very soon and for some us its back already (getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning to watch a meaningless friendly over in the USA) On Saturday I'm off to Reading (no doubt with a hangover after seeing Sham on the Friday) for another meaningless friendly. 400 mile round trip. I think I'm mad but thats nothing compared to mates lad who drove up to see Macclesfield vs Middlesborough last weekend (he's a Boro fan...poor sod!) Dedication at its highest though when you consider he lives here in Plymouth.
Anyway the reason for this post is for the Football fans amongst us. I need your input for the following questions.
Who is going to win the Premier League this season?
Who is going to win the Championship?
Who is going to win League One?
Who is going to win League Two?
If you had asked who was going to win the Prem a month ago I would of said Liverpool but after they signed the defensive liability that is Glen Johnson and after what I've seen of my beloved team online in America, then I'm unbiasedly tipping Chelsea. I think we have the strongest squad and I'm hoping Man Utd will miss Ronaldo too much. The Gooners look weak and Man City will have to worry about the likes of Everton and Villa before they can invade the top four. What they lack is a defensive leader. They should try to sign one don't you think?
For the Championship,I've got a feeling Ron Keane will get Ipswich up there but my outside each way tip at 25/1 is Leicester City. Although they have just come up to this League, its not uncommon for teams to get successive promotions and they look a decent bet. I can't see Newcastle,Middlesborough or WBA going straight back up although I'd like the Baggies to do it purely for Roberto Di Matteo being the Manager.
League One is a differcult one but as long as Leeds don't go up,I'm not really bothered. My tip is Charlton.
League Two I'm going to resist Sven-mania and go for Bradford City. Why? I dunno!
What about you lot?

Hi Longy.
Thanks so much for the Defiant Post post. I bought that via It Ticked And Exploded fanzine back in the day.
Talking of punk fanzines, I've got a box of original ones I'm getting rid of for free. If you're a collector or just fancy having them, I'd be happy to mail them to you. It would be a way of thanking you for all the great music you've posted. Please feel free to let me know via your blog.
As for football predictions, I'm going for Liverpool, QPR, Huddersfield and Notts County with my team (Clyde) romping away with Scottish League Two.
Cheers, Jon Wilde
Thanks for your kind offer Jon. If I actually had room for them,I'd love em mate but haven't even got room for a scanner. I'm sure theres plenty of other bloggers out there who would love them. I chucked away 1000's of cdr's recently just because of room. I really appreciate your offer though so thanks alot for offering.
PS and thanks to Clyde for providing us with Pat Nevin all those years ago! The best 95 grand we ever spent.
No worries, feller. Like you I'm anxious to get rid of stuff that's cluttering the house.
Bit of a sore point, Pat Nevin. Clyde wuz robbed. I once had a grand night out with Nevin and The Cocteau Twins in Chiswick. I was amazed that a footballer could drink so much ale. The Cocteau Twins had recently found their own flat after living under my kitchen table for six months. Strange times.
All best, Jon
He certainly had a great taste in music did wee Pat. Apparently, the other players thought he was a right wierdo at first due to his musical tastes and dress sense. He once went to Tottenham away by tube too. Thats not wierd, thats madness for a player! I think that day was the fastest he ever ran.

Man Utd for the premiership yet again, for me endless joy, at least the rest of you will be able to watch the scousers spontaneously combust with impotent rage, championship probably one ofthe last lot of sad acts who were relegated this year. probably leeds unfortunately for League one, i'd like stockport, but it's not going to happen and for league two, the not so mighty shakers (bury to you) to finally climb up a league for a whole season

...and I was beginning to think you were a sound bloke Longy!!! I am a Dirty LeedsLeedsLeeds fan and have been all of my years', still watching them as often as I can...always flatter to deceive but holy crap we need to be out of this League One, not easy when you've got Master Bates at the helm and no money is being invested in the squad, unlike the Ridsdale/O'Leary era which was great while it lasted!
Did you know Bates is actually still employed by Chelsea Gazz? Abramovich sent him there on a specific mission to f*** you up even more lol
Oh Ken,if your'e reading this from your Monaco bolthole,I'm only joking. Don't take me to court as I can't afford the costs & I think you are doing a blinding job :-)
Impressive start for my picks !!
0-0, 1-7!!, 0-5
You'll be so glad I went for Manu :)
