Stiff Little Fingers - Bits Of Kids 7'' (1982)

Some more SLF. Not their best effort and pretty crackly to boot. The band were going off the boil around the time this was released in '82 in my humble opinion although some may argue they lost it a bit eariler than that really.

Tracks

1) Bits Of Kids
2) Stands To Reason

Yep I would argue they lost their Punk edge somewhat earlier however they still remained a brilliant Pop/Punk band and all the purists can fuck off as this is a great single.

Cheers Longy another great post.

I'm gonna argue that SLF's career arc was one of the clearest of all the great punk bands. while their first two albums are clearly their best, each one of the original four develops their sound one more step and they never made an embarrassing or weak record and their songs stayed strong right till the end.

Following my classic pattern, I now want to post the 12" version (one of my earliest SLF purchases actually). But then again maybe I won't, I'm gonna start feeling like a blog stalker.

No Sir, SLF never lost it... This said I must admit that at the time I was a little disppointed. I was expecting something in the vein of the fabulous "Pay no more than".

what pissed me off was on go for it tour at durham everyone shouted for early stuff and jake burns said "weve moved on" gonks mate B.A.D.

Philippe - I just wanted all their stuff to be as good as the first album I suppose. Bands move on though and in most cases (from my perspective) they go backwards.

Hello gonks mate. Cheers for your comment. I hope you don't support that shite football club too :-0)

I guess this where I send you my upmost sympathy then :-) Seriously,I wish you a very shitty season lol. You lot are starting to get the better of us lately and I'm not happy! I still have nightmares about that bloody Carling Cup final too.

This single was, in my opinion better than the brass-laden predecessor "Talkback", and it still had something about it at that time ...the Burns growl. The B-sider is pretty damn good too
A nice post ....yet again !

This is one of the original "emo" songs! I loved the first 2 SLF albums, plus of course Hanx. I still like all of the balanceof the SLF output...there later labums (the 90's stuff) has great stuff on it too.

I've really understood what "Emo" means to be honest Nazz!
