T-Rex - The Groover 7'' (1973)

One of my oldest surviving records. Amazingly the A side is still in pretty good condition but the B side is a bit crackly. Pre-punk,there wasn't many bands that were any good to my ears but T-Rex (along with Slade and Sweet) were one of them.

R.I.P. Marc Bolan

Tracks

1) The Groover
2) Midnight

To be honest gobshyte I can't really remember. This one would be one of the first though I reckon (and I was 9 at the time....a late starter)

Wow gobshyte, I just looked up "remember you're a womble" and found out it had Chris Spedding on it. That's kind of neat.

Mine was the Star Wars soundtrack double L.P. when I was 7.

Hey Longy, would you know of an early '80's double l.p. comp with the Adicts, One Way System, Abusive Wheels, Vibrators, Attila the Stockbroker, Vice Squad, English Dogs and Dead Kennedys on it?

I thought it was one of the Burning Ambitions, but the track listings aren't the same and I was trying to find Attila's original "Holidays in Albania"... Any thoughts on what it might be?

I like all Bolan. Great post here. My first purchased record was ACDC "Back in Black" but my first record for my Birthday was Rolling Stones "Emotional Rescue" who some say were early punk.
Viacomclosedmedown on youtube and DU blog/ning (just posted last week Bolan's You Scare Me To Death 7)

Hello

First LP I should buy was Gary Glitter but I did listen to the a-side so I bought Sladest instead...... :-D. Otherwise it was Status Quo and Sweet for me (and some Nazareth & SAHB.

Best wishes from Sweden

Biopunk - to be honest mate,it doesn't ring a bell. Email Attilla and he should be able to help you.

Cheers viacom and hello arstider. Have you moved yet?

Yes I have moved most things but still have some left in the old one... Then comes the time to find everything again..... But so far everything has gone well......

Best wishes from Sweden

Nice one arstider. Only death and penalty shootouts are more stressful than moving :-)

Now that's just plain cool. I love listening to old T-Rex. I was a little too young to listen to em when they were out, but I found them in the late 70's (79 or so) and early 80's after listening to Sweet. Sweet just bring back some very cool memories.

Yep you can't beat a bit of old T-Rex Infonistacrat. The other great thing about Mr Bolan was his TV show where he wasn't afraid to stick a few punk bands on. Unfortunately he died just as the show was really taking off.
