999 - Indian Reservation (Clear Vinyl) 7'' (1981)

The wonderful 999 from 1981. Still going strong today. In fact their last album from 2007 (Death In Soho) was so good it totally shocked me. Probably their best album since Concrete in my humblest of opinions.

Tracks

1) Indian Reservation
2) So Greedy (Remixed)
3) Taboo

Great band. Yes I liked the last album as well. The one before wasn't bad either. Still have this one, somewhere...... :-D

Best wishes from Sweden

Ha! I just dusted this one off to post also, saved me a job. Yep that last 999 album was ace they are a great band a mate of mine promoted them in Reading two years ago and another old mate Deejayed for them all sounds provided by yours truly. The track "Indian Reservation" is a cover version originally written by J.D. Loudermilk then covered by Paul Revere & The Raiders who had a U.S. number one in '71, here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsMQbedCZj0

Cheers Marky.

Thanks for your comment artsider. Yes the last album rocks!

Marky I never even realised this was a cover version. You learn something new every day. Cheers for the link!

Don Fardon (from the Sorrows) apparently had a first hit with that song in 1968... there's a version by the Nashville Teens too around the same era. The Nashville Teens popularize another Loudermilk song "Tobacco Road"...
Great version here and great release by a great band...

Thanx Longy and thanx Marky for the info (I knew different versions of this song but never paid attention to who actually wrote it!)

Great post Longy. 1981 era of 999 was my favorite (maybe because I was 17 and finding music that was during my time period?). Anyways I cannot agree with you more on the last 999 album Death In Soho...Very good. Actually their last couple of one's before it are pretty good too. They still cut it live also. Guy Days is one talented guitarest!
