Pay No More Than?

I'm not doing any festivals this summer theres a few good bands I'm looking forward to over the next few months. Look at the bands and the price of the tickets. Note that The Damned and Girlschool are with Motorhead (Not written on the ticket) For me,even at £25 thats the one that stands out. I guess the question I'm asking is do you think theres value for money or do you think some of them are a bit steep?

For me starting with tonight,The Wedding Present at £12 is about right. A Jimmyless Sham 69 at £8 is great as is a £15 Buzzcocks ticket. As mentioned above, for the 3 bands the Motorhead gig is the best value. I would happily pay £25 just to see The Damned or Motorhead again anyway and chuck in Girlschool = bargain!

Which brings me to The Specials. Support act not confirmed and £32.50p without their main man. Is that value? Would you pay it? It does seem a little steep but it is The Specials so sod it,its worth it to me. Maybe not as good value as some of the above gigs but I didn't hesitate to purchase the ticket. Where do you draw the line though? By rights this should of sold out on day one but tickets are still on sale. If it doesn't sell out then its simply because its too bloody expensive for alot of people in the current economic climate. With that in mind,do you think they are taking the piss?

ticket prices take the piss full stop, lets face it most of the bands that we all know and love is usually four or five people (+ support) playing loud live rock n roll / punk / garage / whatever and is not the lip syncing costume changing nonsense that the masses lap up. Whay are tickets about the same fucking price, gotta be the venue or the evil scum that is ticketing agencies, i now drive to our local venue and pick them up in person, saves a fucking fortune. Rant Over

Forgot to mention the UK Subs are also playing at the Hippo on the 27th November at £8 (another bargain)

Thanks for your comment A.J. I absolutely detest these bloody ticket agencies. If its not local and requires a Credit Card then its rip off time with card fees, processing fees, postal fees ect Nothing winds me up more (with the exception of carrier bags!)

Prices now are rather high, is it because bands are not making as much income through record sales? (LP prices in the 1980s were not much less than now).
I remember paying £1.50 to see Stiff Little Fingers at Erics in Liverpool.
(Feb '79 it was)
Those WERE the days!

Very good point anon. Its because of the internet and the free music available everywhere. I feel a bit guilty about posting old stuff but some people think nothing of posting brand new stuff or whole band discographys. No wonder the bands don't make any money.
