UK Decay - For My Country 7'' (1980)

I'm well aware this has been blogged a few times but I wanted to put UK Decay on here for three reasons. Reason number one is I loved them and they deserved to be here. I only saw the band live the once and they were brilliant. Reason number two as an excuse to also post the video for For My Country which I nabbed off the Underground Forces Vol 2 video. Reason number three to discuss the biggest cock-up you have made as a record collector.

Which brings me nicely to UK Decay. My biggest cock-up involved UK Decay's debut 7'' single which was a split with Pneumania. I stupidly swapped it with my Sister for something completely worthless (I can't even remember what it was) I've tried to get hold of it since but without success and I'm not prepared to pay the ebay prices. So what about you lot? What was your biggest record collecting mistake?

I don't have this one in my possession. There are thousands that I don't have. It would be an endless list.

Don't know much about these boys but "For My Country" is great. Now here's probably the biggest fuck up you'll ever hear. In 1977 I managed to get hold of a copy of the Sex Pistols "God Save The Queen" nothing amazing about that you might think but wait it was an A&M copy rare as rocking horse shit and worth loads nowadays. I managed to get it off my mates sister who's father worked at a record company. I took it home and played it to my younger brother who thought it was ok but said he prefered "Anarchy In The U.K." so I took GSTQ off form our old record player and stuck on Anarchy then I sat back down on my bed only to hear SNAP!!! yep that's right I sat on the fucker and broke it in two. Now if that wasn't bad enough not long after the event we moved house and the two halves got left behind on a shelf. It's still my favourite record of all time but now all I have is the virgin reissue and an A&M bootleg. :-(

Marky GSTQ A&M is the holy grail! Thats terrible news and your right, its worth a bloody fortune.

I saw a Rhodesian GSTQ 1977 original on ebay a while back strangly enough. That was in four figures 'n all.

post into a discussion on a record trade story involving having the Misfits 7 "Bullet" trading it and getting back a differnt copy that I have now...and saying I don't care if Glenn couldn't "hang" with the San Fran punks and the ensuieing fight at a McDonals's where they chose to eat. outside of town. Hi I guess this wasn't a mistake after all but i did give up the Bad Brains "I Luv Jah" 12 inch record that is now on CD reissued. Viacomclosedmedown on youtube and DU ning/blog
