Sham 69 - Hersham Boys 12'' (1979)

Requested by gobshyte over at the excellent http://mondo-de-muebles.blogspot.com/ here is the 12'' version of Sham's biggest chart hit. Some may argue it was also their worse! The four B-sides were recorded at the Roundhouse a year eariler and give you a flavour of how their gigs were disrupted by violence (and also what a great live band they were and hopefully still are......I'll soon find out on the 31st July)

Tracks

1) Hersham Boys (Long Version)
2) I Don't Wanna (Live)
3) Rip Off (Live)
4) I'm A Man I'm A Boy (Live)
5) Tell Us The Truth (Live)

I would argue a case for "Hersham Boys" being anything but their worst track I always loved it and think it's great fun, always had the crack at disco's and parties with this 'un. Cheers mate.

Your welcome guys. Before Sham broke up in 1980 I would definately say it was their worst one Marky. I even prefered Better Man Than I to this. I didn't like the majority of The Adventures Of Hersham Boys album too.

My Mrs came from Hersham, it was a bit of a dump and we all used to laugh at this one and thought Jimmy had lost the plot, but now I have to say its a good fun sing along. I'm a man, I'm a boy was always one of my live faves, it really meant something to me at the time, you know what i still think it does now.

Your welcome Vomito and Gary. Totally agree with your sentiments about I'm A Man I'm A Boy Gary (as you've probably noticed on here :-)

It's a party record and if respected as such I still think it's a good one. As for the album I like it more noe than when it was released and "Lost on Highway 46" is a classic.

Hello

Nice one, for me this was the "last" single from Sham 69.
Still have it somewhere....

I'll move this weekend so you might not hear from me for a while.

Best wishes from Sweden

I wish you a stress free move arstider (if there is such a thing) Good luck mate anyway.
