Its time for someone to make a confession. Who had this single and actually filled in the crossword? C'mon admit it,there must be someone out there! Besides making fantastic punk tunes the Ruts could sure play some mean reggae too as demonstrated on the B side here.R.I.P. Malc & Foxy

Best wishes from Sweden

This is such a great band. Great.
No I didn't do the crossword.
Best wishes, Robert - Sweden
The best Ruts single in my opinion "The Punks in the corner speeding like a jet" yes we were.
Love The Ruts!!!!!!!
Kings of UK punk. They NEVER wrote a bad song and Malcolm Owen was without doubt one of the best and most charismatic vocalists of the era. Unforgettable.
Great post! Cheers Longy!
such a tragic waste of life, a great band - gonk
Thanks for your comments peeps. Much appreciated as ever :-)
Wrecking my Ruts single by writing nonsenses on the cover ? Are you totally insane ?
Superb single. I've always thought that Staring at the Rude Boys sounds a bit like Running with the Boss Sound of Generation X.
Love In Vain is one of my favourite song of all time. A slow, sad, moving reggae written about Malcolm's wife running away cause she couldn't cope with his drug addiction.
Yes I am insane! Remember most of us were mere kids when this came out and thats what alot of youngsters did (writing their names on labels was another favourite) Not guilty myself of course your honour :-)
I remember seeing this one on Top of The Pops....have a search on YouTube for it! Never did the crossword but I remember some tw@t at school doing it on his copy then Tippexing out all the white boxes to make it look like new again....DICK !
I remember it too (and Babylon's Burning and Something That I Said before it)
I knew there was someone out there who did it lol
my mate wrote his name on all his record labels, believe it or not on both sides, thick twat, to me, they were my treasure, always looked after em but still they got scratched ?????????? seen the ruts at newcastle 78, 1 of best gigs i seen - gonk
Alot of people did Gonk. Quite a few of my second hand records have some idiots name on the label.
Great band, great single. Never understood Malcolm’s penchant for high wasted jeans though.
I can't say I ever noticed that myself!
