The Teardrops - Seeing Double 7'' (1979)

The Teardrops I know very little about. I know they had a couple of singles before this one (In And Out Of Fashion and Leave Me No Choice) and they had an album after this one entitled Final Vinyl. I'm sure I clocked the album a while back on a blog somewhere but I'm damned if I can remember where. If anyone has the 2 other singles and the album and wants to share them then please do (the begging bowl is out again)

Judging by the TJM label and the accent of the vocalist, I think its safe to assume these guys were from Manchester.

Needless to say, this crackles a bit (but you knew that already if you visit here often)

The A side is dedicated to referee Mike Riley who was obviously seeing double today (the blind twat)

The B side is dedicated to all fans of Chelsea FC who's remote title dreams went up in tatters eariler this evening.

Tracks

1) Seeing Double
2) Teardrops And Heartaches

Hi, i wished more Teardrops material. "Final Vinyl" is posted in another blog, but without the artcovers and credits, so you can also post your own copy. Please, get thet two EPs. The band comprised Buzzcocks classic bassist Steve Garvey. Your blog is great.

Thats the problem anon. I didn't download it and I haven't got it myself. I want it too but can't find it. Which blog is it on mate?

Sadly it was deleted. I downloaded it before last Christmas, but it seems shortly afterwards the blog was deleted.

Never mind. One day someone will see these comments and they'll upload it for me (hopefully)

Hi,I am the vocalist on "Seeing double" & "Teardrops & heartaches."
My name is Trevor, I have a copy of "In and out of fashion", but don't have a deck. I could give loads of info if you want!!!

Hello Trevor. Thanks for dropping in. Yes please feel free to educate us on here (please!)

Hi,I'll start with "In and out of fashion".
The band on that recording is actually the band as listed on the sleeve plus:Martin Bramah & Karl Burns from The Fall.We were all school friends and lived very close to each other.Unfortunately M.E Smith and Kay Carroll didn't want any referance to the Fall being made at the time of release, hence just a name check in the thanks section!!!

Nice one Trevor. So my assumption that you came from Manchester was right then? I wonder why MES didn't want any reference to The Fall.

It was at the start of HIS!! career as an anti idol!
Anyway we did 1 gig at the Factory in Hulme with Eric from JCC's Invisible Girls on bass.It was recorded from the mixing desk by Richard Boon The Buzzcocks'manager but we never got to hear it.2000 copies were made at first which Jimmy D & myself paid for as it was basicly just a group of mates messin' about!!

Well his made a good career at that! I've never even heard In And Out Of Fashion but I see it on ebay for £11.99 and Final Vinyl for £12.99. I'm tempted....

Jimmy still has the master tapes for "In and out"
We later on did some synthy, wierdy spacey rock type of stuff, which Final Solution Records were going to put out,but they went bust!! Bastards. We all have copies of that era.
On "Final Vynl" Tony Friel contributes as well as the usual suspects.

Thats a pity.

That Final Vinyl album is quite wierd from what I remember. A song called Some People with loads of noises in it used to do my head in lol. A mate of mine used to have it.

What would you consider your best work with the Teardrops (best single/track) ect?

I personally prefer the later stuff we did,not the Teardrops.
We just went mad in Graveyard Studios in Prestwich! The results were more psychedlic and interesting.
More info on request, but i'm going out now so see you soon.
By the way " Bluemoon " you saw me standin' alone!!
Come on City.
